Many users have complained of acoustic whining noises coming from their shiny T510 laptops. Mine did it too. It was a bit of a disappointment, as otherwise, the machine is very quiet.It was bugging me so much I decided to do something about it. A few screws removed, and an added capcitor, and the noise is (mostly) gone – it’s certainly HUGELY quieter. I have some other plans that should illiminate it completely, but for now, here’s the mod:
That’s a 1000uF 25v cap in some heat shrink soldered between the 20V dc near the switching converter and the ground on the catch diode of the same.
